Exhibit runs Nov 24 - Feb. 19 in our Exhibit Art Gallery at the Wayne Theatre
Andrea Finch finds inspiration in the botanical aspects of the natural world from a bee's eye view. Her quilted textiles often escape the boundaries of flat surface art to become sculptures that taunt the viewer to reach out and touch. Her botanical obsession began with photographing and creating an arboretum in her yard. She has let go of the rules and allows the fabric to speak through texture, color, and design bringing to the viewer a bee's eye view.
Andrea grew up on a hobby farm in Eastern Pennsylvania and earned a BA in Fine Arts from Kutztown University. She lives and works in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She was a traditional quilt maker and teacher for many years. After years of fermentation, three once separate parts of her life, photography, quilting and botany; now come together in her quilted textiles.
