An evening of Sondheim’s music...
Opening with a rhapsodic overture of Sondheim’s musical themes by Matthew Stephens, we begin an evening of Sondheim’s music. The cast will perform songs in their original form followed by solo piano re-imaginings. Famed contemporary composers apply their unique sound and aesthetic to the re- imaginings and include minimalist Steve Reich, Disney’s Thomas Newman & composer of SPRING AWAKENING Duncan Sheik, among others. The show culminates in a vocal + piano tour de force of Sondheim’s anthemic SUNDAY from Sunday in the Park with George.
