How does the audition process work?
Students will attend a music audition and a dance class. If they didn't audition for “Newsies JR”, they will be asked to sing 60 seconds of a song from a musical preferably in a style similar to the show and possibly answer a few questions. We are looking for young performers with a positive attitude who have a passion for performing.
Auditions will be on Sept 10, in the Wayne Theatre's Custin Cabaret from 5:30-7:30 pm, and you will be notified via email of acceptance.
What if my child isn't accepted into the competition division?
No worries! Your child will have the opportunity to enroll in our teen actor's studio.
The training they receive during this time will help prepare them for our spring show and potentially for the competition team next year.
We expect to cut some performers because while traveling across state lines for the first time with students, we are going to take a smaller team who are directable, put in work outside of the studio space, and who we have confidence that we can keep focused and safe while away from home.
This year, our expected team will range from 12-15 performers in the cast.
How much is tuition?
Tuition for this program is $1200 and is broken into 5 payments ($245 per month from Sept-Jan.)
There will be an optional fundraiser card provided per performer that can bring the total cost to $140 a month.
The tuition payment covers registration for the conference, costume/T Shirt, all travel, lodging, and 3 meals a day for Jan 17-Jan 20, 2025.
Can parents attend JTF?
Yes! However, there will be a separate cost for this and we would need to know of your intent to travel with us by Nov 1, 2024.
Can my child attend the festival if I do not attend?
Studio Wayne will assign a trained, experienced chaperone to your child. The chaperone will be in contact with you the entire weekend keeping you up to date on all of the exciting things your child will be experiencing over the course of the trip. We will follow the same protocols as the public school system regarding medications needed during travel.
