Imagination Stage

Grades: K-3
Begins: May 31, 2022
Focusing on physical theatre and acting, these young artists will hone their creativity, build confidence, and explore the idea that “All the World’s A Stage.” Students will develop the skills to create new characters and bring them to life through improvised play.

Stories on Stage: Fairy Tale Edition

Grades: 4-8
Begins: May 31, 2022
Bring your favorite stories to life...on stage! In Stories on Stage: Fairy Tale edition , students will start with hilariously clever storybooks and turn them into one-of-a-kind live performances. They'll learn details of script development, character choices, improvisation and physical movement. They will showcase their performance during the final day of class.

Advanced Improv

Grades: 6-12
Begins: June 6, 2022
Students will work with artist Lesley Larsen to develop advanced improv skills such as extended scene work and long-form improv. They will develop skills of spontaneity, creativity, improvisation, and confidence. The course ends with a demonstration during the final class, and an invitation to audition for upcoming improv performance opportunities through Studio Wayne. Previous completion of a Studio Wayne Basic Improv class (or an equivalent class) required.

Stage Makeup Design: Aristocats Edition

Grades: 5-12
Begins: June 13, 2022
A rare hands-on experience with the imaginative world of Aristocats KIDS! Learning principles of stage makeup design, students will choose characters from Aristocats KIDS and see them through the full creative process, including concept, design, rendering and application. Students will supervise makeup for Studio Wayne's production of Aristocats KIDS, and see their designs come to life onstage.

Prop Making: Aristocats and Post Office Edition

Grades: 6-12
Begins: June 13, 2022
In this hands-on class, students will learn the importance of props in a theatrical production and how to design props for a production. Under the direction of Lesley Larsen, students will design props for Studio Wayne's productions of Aristocats KIDS and The Post Office. Students will work together to see their designs come to life on stage.

Broadway Vocals, Kids

Grades: 3-7
Begins: June 20, 2022
For developing singers, learn how to take charge of your voice! Join Music Director Sarah Cramer to practice the basics of vocal production and ear training, strengthen your vocal technique, and improve your character expression through song. For singers who want to act and actors who want to sing, this class develops strong actor/singer skills and audition preparation through group work and solos from contemporary and classic Broadway hits. Students will present a demonstration of their audition-ready song on the final day of class.

Learn the foundation of rhythm, pitch and musicality through songs, games, movement and lots of fun! We will explore a variety of music styles, play instruments, learn silly songs and more as we expend some creative energy!

Lights, Camera, Jazz Hands! Grow your confidence and dance skills by jamming out to some of your Broadway favorites. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of jazz and hip-hop to tell stories through movement.

Have you ever seen something magical happen on stage and wondered, "How did they do that?" In this Tech Theatre camp, Studio Wayne students will get the opportunity to work with a variety of technical specialists to see how we make the magic happen. But remember, a Techie never reveals their secrets!
