WAYNESBORO, VA - The Wayne Theatre will present the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra on Saturday, November 15, in Downtown Waynesboro. Led by music director and virtuoso Andrew Greene, PRSO is widely recognized as the leading professional ragtime orchestra in the United States. The ensemble recreates the sound of turn of the century America with Ragtime, Theater, and Dance music performed from an archive of more than 15,000 original orchestral scores, along with live underscoring for classic silent films.
Programs highlight the music of the late 1800s and early 1900s with selections by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, George M. Cohan, and the King of Ragtime, Scott Joplin. PRSO’s most requested format, the Stage and Screen Spectacular, pairs these works with beloved silent film comedies featuring stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd, creating a family friendly concert experience that feels fresh and historic at the same time.
A favorite with audiences nationwide, PRSO has appeared at premier venues including The Kennedy Center, The Library of Congress, and The American Film Institute, as well as historic theaters, performing arts centers, and universities across the country.
